Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System was developed in a consensus-based approach by the US Green Building Council. It is an accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of green buildings. LEED provides building owners and operators the tools to have an immediate and measurable impact on building performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
At Comfort Systems USA Energy Services, we believe that sustainable construction and reduced environmental impact are more than just a trend; they are good business and prudent ways to reduce the impact we have on the planet. We define 'Green' or Sustainability simply:
'Green is how we live, work and build through intentional actions to preserve natural resources for future generations.'
As building owners are discovering, building or renovating to LEED standards ensures efficiencies that result in cost savings over the life of the building. CSUSA Energy Services is a member of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and as such we have made a commitment to the USGBC's LEED building certification program.
LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building project meets the highest green building and performance measures. All certified projects receive a LEED plaque, which is a nationally recognized symbol demonstrating that a building is environmentally responsible, profitable and a healthy place to live and work. There are both environmental and financial benefits to earning LEED certification.
- Lower operating costs and increased asset value.
- Conserve energy and water.
- Reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
- Reduce waste sent to landfills.
- Healthier and safer for occupants.
- Qualify for tax rebates, zoning allowances and other incentives in hundreds of cities.
- Demonstrate an owner's commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
